- Pain in the upper part of the scapula is the main symptom
- Paresis of M. infraspinatus and M. supraspinatus develops over 1-3 weeks
- Examination usually shows atrophy of M. infraspinatus and M. supraspinatus as well as weakness in isometric testing of external rotation and abduction
